Feb. 27, 1923-Dec. 8, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Marv Hendrickson, on Monday, December 8, 2014. He was a great father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, providing many laughs, "stories" and quiet wisdom throughout his 91 years. He was born on February 27, 1923 in Felt, Idaho, where he spent his younger years before the family moved to Yakima. Prior to WWII, he met and married his wife, Winnie, a union lasting nearly 65 years. In the war effort, Marv joined the Army Air Corps and flew over 25 missions out of England in a B-24 as a ball turret gunner. After the war, Marv took advantage of the G.I. Bill, earning both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education. He spent his entire 31 year career serving students in Arlington both as a teacher and as elementary principal. Before and after retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and winning at pinochle. Marv and Winnie also enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie; his sons, Timothy, Marvin and David; his parents, George and Viola; and his brother, Don. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Bill), Melinda (Gene) and Mary (Roger); his sister, Helen; his brothers, Orv, Clen and Ted along with several nieces and nephews. We'd like to thank all the caregivers who helped our dad in so many ways during his last years. Plans are being made for two gatherings to remember and honor our dad. One will be a Celebration of Life in Arlington, and the other will be a burial with military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. Both will be scheduled for a future date and will be announced when confirmed. We love and miss Dad more than words can express.
