Alice Hendricks, 85 of Sioux Falls formerly of Vivian and Pierre died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at Edgewood Vista in Sioux Falls. Services were 10:30 am Saturday, January 22, at Vivian Lutheran Church in Vivian with burial at Vivian Cemetery.
Alice Cecelia (Satree) Hendricks was born near Wood, SD on September 13, 1919 to Hans and Inga (Moe) Satree. She grew up in the Bert and Josie Leggett home in order to attend the Vera School south of Vivian, SD. Alice attended Augustana College until Josie Leggett's health failed, at which time she returned to the Leggett home to care for Josie.
Alice was united in marriage to Herman A. Hendricks February 3, 1941. They lived most of their lives on the Fair Valley Ranch south of Vivian. They enjoyed many travel adventures in their motor home with Alice as the driver. She was a member of the Jolly Mixers Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, family and traveling.
Her husband, Herman and son, Herman Bert Jr. (Bud), three sisters, Olga Satree, Emma Siebert, and Marjorie Leichtnam, and two brothers, Robert Satree and Kermit Satree and one great grand daughter preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters: Kay (Terry) Sanderson, Sioux Falls SD, Joanne Hendricks, Santa Clara CA, Karla (Ken) Knutson, Dos Palos CA; Daughter-in-law Dianne Booth and two sisters: Helen Cole, Presho SD and Berniece (Frank) Leichtnam, Presho SD, eleven grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
