STAUNTON-Mrs. Nora Henderson Almond, 62, wife of Dorsey Larue Almond of Route 2, died at 9:20 a.m. Monday in King's Daughters' Hospital where she had been a patient for about a month. She had been ill since May.
She was born on May 29, 1918, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late John and Susie Jane (Glass) Henderson.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Almond was employed by Western State Hospital for 10 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three stepdaughters, Mrs. Helen May Desper of Fishersville, Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Mutherspaw of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Margaret G. Suter of Harrisonburg; a sister, Mrs. Gaynelle Sprouse of Palmyra; and 11 step-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. L. Eugene Jordan. Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frank L. Kesterson, Stanley G. Cline, Murray W. Palmer, C. Baxter Engleman, Max H. Lockridge and R. D. Hatcher.
Mr. Almond will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Suter at 83 Hope St. in Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening in the funeral home.
