E. Faye Henderson Bennion 1921 ~ 2007

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, with her sweetheart by her side and surrounded by her loving family, quietly passed from this earth life May 24, 2007. She was born February 8, 1921 in West Jordan, the sixth child of George Alexander Henderson and Ethel Elizabeth Garside. She had three sisters, Marjorie, Thelma, and Donna; and two brothers, Donald and Rulon. She was married to Morris Palmer Bennion October 9, 1939 in Randolph, Utah. Beginning their loving, inspiring and fulfilling 67-year marriage which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, (quoted from her personal history) "I'll always be so grateful for having such a wonderful and understanding husband who has done what he could to lighten my load." They were blessed with five children, M. Lynn Bennion (deceased) and wife, JoAnn, Highland, Colleen (Danny) Montoya, West Jordan, Patricia (M. Kay) Brown, South Jordan, Randall (Sheila), Sandy, and Gerald (Patty), West Valley. Her life was dedicated to serving those around her. Through the years, Faye served in many different capacities within the LDS Church. She served as Primary president, Relief Society president, Young Women's president, and taught in all auxiliaries. She lovingly cared for her parents and Morris' parents until their passing. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor and was known for her fresh homemade bread that she generously shared. She also supported her husband faithfully as he fulfilled many callings in the LDS Church as the president of the Jordan River Temple Chapter, two terms as National President of The Sons of the Utah Pioneers, and while serving 13 years as the patriarch of the Bennion East Stake. Faye was first and foremost a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker but she also worked for many years in the Granite School District Lunch Program. In 1970, she went to work for the State of Utah in the Department of Transportation and Safety. Morris and Faye had many wonderful opportunities for travel. (Quoted from he personal history) "The trip to the Holy Land was beautiful and very special. We were able to visit the places where Jesus walked and taught the gospel. We felt the spirit of the Lord, especially the Sunday morning we were able to take the Sacrament on the Mount of Beatitudes. It was hard to hold back the tears as we sat in that beautiful sacred setting. We also visited the Sea of Galilee, it was absolutely breathtaking." Together, Morris and Fay served a mission for the LDS Church in the Baguio, Philippines Mission from October 1983 to April 1985. Until recently they served together as temple ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple. Faye loved music, dancing, and patiently taught her sweetheart the dances she learned from her own father. She was very proud of her family and loved all of her 20 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren unconditionally. We would like to express our love and appreciation to Vista Care Hospice, and Garden Terrace for the loving care they gave to our mother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007, 11 a.m. at the Riverview Ward, 5550 South 1300 West. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Taylorsville City Cemetery.
