KIMBALL - Ruth A. Carlson, 87, a lifelong Kimball resident, died at the Kimball County Manor Saturday, April 14, 2007.
Memorials services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 5, at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. As cremation has taken place there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to either the Banner County Museum or a charity of the donors choice. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ruth Adele Carlson was born in a sod house in southern Kimball County Feb. 18, 1920, the daughter of John Richard and Bertha (Sands) Henderson. She completed the 8th grade in the Kimball County schools. She married Charles E. Carlson Nov. 21, 1942. They lived on a farm/ranch in Banner County and had three children. She moved to Kimball in 1986.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent many hours baking cookies, sewing, and gardening. Ruth made beautiful quilts giving one to each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. Ruth volunteered for the Kimball County Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store for many years.
Survivors include her children, Dick (Gwelda) of Lincoln, Neb., Evelyn of Casper, Wyo., and John of Omaha, Neb; grandchildren, Alan Carlson and Lesa Smith, Janelle (Jeff) Crouse, Scott (Hesuk) and Craig (Johanna) McDaniel, and Jonas (Heather), Jay (Sally) and Jordan Carlson; five great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Margaret Henderson, and six nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, brother Wayne Henderson and an infant brother. Published in The Star-Herald from April 18 to April 20, 2007
