Margaret Henderson was born near Quebec, Canada, August 22, 1840. At the age of eight years she moved with her parents to Ontario.

On December 22, 1855, she was united in marriage to James Dodd, who preceded her in death May 4, 1915.

The next move of the Dodd family brought them to Howard county, arriving in 1874. They were one of the pioneer families of this county. For thirty years they resided in this county, living on Canada Hill.

In 1904 they moved back to Canada, settling in Olds, Alberta, In June 1920 she came to Palmer, Nebraska, to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Hunt, where she passed away, October 28, 1927.

Very early in life she joined the Methodist Church of Canada. Upon coming to Nebraska, she joined the Methodist church at Warsaw.

Mr. and Mrs. Dodd, along with the other early pioneers, were instrumental in establishing the first Methodist church in Howard county, and it is thought to be the first church of any denomination in the county.

Dodd, of Olds, Alberta; Miss Elsie Dodd of Lincoln; and Chas Dodd of Rock Springs, Wyoming. She also leaves two sisters and three brothers living in eastern Canada. Besides these she leaves eighty-two grandchildren and seventy-five great-grandchildren.

All of the children were present at the funeral. Interment was made in the Warsaw cemetery after services conducted by Rev. H. E. Patterson were held in the Methodist Episcopal church, St. Paul, Nebraska.
