Delillah "Dee" Elizabeth Henderson Giles, 86, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2015 in Conroe, Texas with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Dee was born in Conroe, Texas on September 19, 1928. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1944.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Pearle Henderson Kokena and Percy Henderson; husband of 45 years, Claude Giles, and daughter, Claudia Giles Matchett.
Dee was a vivacious, friendly person who loved dogs and never met a stranger. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed preparing large, often home-grown, meals for her entire family.
Dee is survived by her sister, Linnie Lumpkin and husband James; children, Sherry Giles Gurka and husband Billy Joe, son Larry Giles, and daughter Tammy Giles Winger and husband Chet. Her grandchildren are Stephanie Matchett Hardwick, Adrienne Matchett Keller, Kristen Gurka Anzueto, Eric Giles, Kolter Wall, and Karli Gurka Robb. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends.
The family will receive visitors at Sam Houston Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas on Thursday, February 12 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Sam Houston Funeral Home on Friday, February 13 at 10:00 am with interment following at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe. Dr. Edmund Robb will officiate the funeral, and pall bearers will be Billy Joe Gurka, Tommy Matchett, Eric Giles, Kolter Wall, Albert Anzueto, and Nathanael Robb. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to Montgomery County Animal Society, 8535 State Hwy 242, Conroe, TX 77385. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Glen Berwick and his loving staff.
