Mary Lou Henderson (1923-2011)


DENISON - Mary Lou Henderson passed away September 24, 2011. She was born December 13, 1923 in Denison, TX. to Earl and Anna Vest. From the age of six months she made her home with her foster mother, Pauline Harvey until her marriage to William M. Henderson at Camp Edward, MA. on February 13, 1943. Mr. Henderson preceded her in death December 13, 2001 in Plano, TX., where they had made their home since his retirement from the U.S. Army. After his death she moved back to Denison and made it her home.

Mrs. Henderson graduated from Denison High School in 1941 and went to Draughon's Business College in Dallas where she graduated and went to work at Kraft Cheese Company in the old Barrett Bldg. on Main Street in Denison. Years later she went to work in the automobile business and retired in 1985.

Mrs. Henderson was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, Gate City Chapter #77 and the VFW Aux. Post 2773. She is survived by her two sons and their wife's Glen and Donna Henderson of Wildomar, CA., and David and Marilyn Henderson of Van Alstyne, TX.; three grandchildren Ronald Henderson of Las Vegas, NV., Tina Levesque of Spokane, WA., and William J. Henderson of Grandbury, TX.; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. her beloved friends were her sister-in-law Jerry Geisler of Denison, TX.; nieces Otisanne McManus of McDade, TX., and Carolyn Lilley of Branson, MO.

Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband; foster mother Pauline Harvey Flieg; parents Earl and Anna Vest; three brothers J.D. Vest, Vane Vest and David Vest all of California; two sisters Anna Jayne Brown of San Antonio, TX. and Earlene Nix Bates of Lyons, TX.; and her beloved friends Margaret Harvey of Denison, TX., and Glenna Brigham.

Services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Rev. Gary McManus will officiate and there will an Eastern Star Service at the mausoleum.

Family night will be held 6 - 7 p.m. at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison on Wednesday night September 28, 2011.
