PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Jane Hendershot Blake died March 24, 2012, on the eve of her 85th birthday, with lung cancer.
Born in West Hartford, Conn., she was the daughter of Lewis and Margie Hendershot.
She graduated in 1945 from Pittsfield High School and attended Skidmore College.
On March 28, 1950, she married William Leonard Blake.
After they divorced, Mrs. Blake returned to her Pittsfield family home in 1970 to help care for her mother. She was a frequent contributor of local history details to the Berkshire Eagle newspaper, a founding member of the Pittsfield Garden Tour, a board member of Berkshire Art Association and a member of Junior League, Berkshire County Historical Society, the College Club and First Church of Christ Congregational.
She enjoyed art, theater, travel and Lake Dunmore in Vermont.
Survivors include three children, Lisa Griffis of Montgomery, Texas, Leslie Reed of Windsor and Jonathan Blake of Salisbury, Vt., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew.
She was predeceased by a sister, Eloise Lennox, in 2006 and her former husband in 2011.
The memorial celebration of her life will be private.
