She died April 1 in a Bartlett nursing home. Artie May "Sissy" Hempel was born in Bastrop County Texas on July 4, 1932, the daughter of Emma Birshoff and Ernest L Hempel. She was a member of First Baptist Church Holland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Lee "Buddy" Hempel and Ernest August Hempel.
Survivors include two nephews, Bobby Hempel of Temple and Jimmy Hempel of Holland, and several great-nieces and nephews.
