Donna M. Hemmerly (1929-2011)

Bradford, Pa. - Donna M. Hemmerly, 82, of 70 Rodger Lane went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday (May 4, 2011) at the Bradford Manor surrounded by her loving family.

Born Feb. 11, 1929, in Seneca, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Albert F. and Elda Loretta (Stephens) Xander.

On August 19, 1950, in Bradford, she married Robert L. Hemmerly, who died on Jan. 19, 1997.

Mrs. Hemmerly was a 1947 graduate of Bradford High School. She had worked as a bookkeeper at WESB, then as a meat wrapper at Reading's Grocery Store and also at Sal and Son's Grocery Store.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Christian Women Organization and the Suzanne Wesley Class.

Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne M. (Mark) Koppenhaver of Bradford; a sister, Jean (Donald) McAdams of Bradford; one grandson, Timothy A. (Tracy) Koppenhaver; two great-grandchildren, Zander Koppenhaver and Jaylee Koppenhaver; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Albert F. Xander; and her faithful companion, Daisy Mae.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday (May 6, 2011) from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., East Main Street, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 7, 2011) with The Rev. David Bunnell, pastor of the Hill Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, the McKean County SPCA, the American Cancer Society, or the Visiting Nurses Association.
