Mrs. Frances Bolton Cook, 93, of Griffin, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Brightmoor Nursing Center.
Mrs. Cook was born in Upson County on July21, 1915, to the late Grover Cleveland Helms and the late Sarah Elizabeth Parks Helms. She is proceded in death by her first husband, Charles T. Bolton, Sr., and second husband, Hugh P. Cook. She is also proceded in death by brother, James H. Helms, and sisters, Ruth H. Miller and Sarah Leary. Mrs. Cook was a 1933 graduate of Griffin High. She worked 32 years for the city of Griffin, serving 11 years in Tax and License Department and 21 years as secretary to the city manager. Mrs. Cook had been an active member of First Baptist Church since 1933, serving in the Sunday School, Baptist Training Unit, ABC'etts, WMU and XYZ Club.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Barbara Bolton; grandchildren, Chad and Kasey Bolton, and Erin and Heath Padgett; great-grandchildren, Noah, Jonah and Luke Thomas; sister, Louise Swiedler; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Frances Cook will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Dr. Bruce Morgan will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
