He was married to Joanna Hathaway. His family located at this home in or around 1820 and he began a family cemetery 200 yards south of his home for their loved ones. In 1868 after his death his 1000 acres or more was divided the property was divided among his children. By 1937 the cemetery was owned by a man named William Tannehill.
