Agnes Celia Healey was born in 1887 to Irish immigrant Thomas J Healey and his wife Ellen Conley. She married James Arthur "Jim" Hellems Sr, around 1907. They had three children: James Arthur "Jim" Jr, Agnes Lillian, and Gertrude Maria Hellems. The 1920 US Census of Erie County, New York, lists Jim and Agnes as living at 242 Elk Street with two children still at home. Jim died in 1937. Because of his service during the Spanish American War, Agnes and her unmarried daughter Gertrude were able to collect a $36 a month pension from the Navy. Agnes Healey Hellems died, 5 September 1959, aged 72, in Buffalo. Her death record lists her final address as 484 Perry Street. Agnes's funeral was held on 8 September at St Brigid's Church and she was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Agnes C Hellems died September 3, 1959. She was the wife of the late James A Hellems; mother of James A Hellems, Mrs Edward B Hart, and the late Mrs Agnes Dray. She was sister of Mrs Ellen Southwick, and the late Mrs Margaret Bowers, Mrs Mary Norton, Mrs Alice Rose and Thomas Healey.
