SOUTH BEND - Donna Mae Ewald - Huddleston, 88, of South Bend, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Hospice House, South Bend. Donna was a seamstress and retired from Gerber Manufacturing in Mishawaka. She was born October 18, 1923, in Benton Harbor, MI, to the late Ira Richard and Isora Goldena (King) Heimel, and had lived in this area all of her life. She married Michael L. Ewald, who preceded her in death in 1968, and then married Doyle L. Huddleston, who preceded her in death in 1976. Survivors include a son, Richard Patrick Ewald of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Jacob, Jessica and Brooke Ewald; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Leonard L. and Ira Richard Heimel. One son, Dale Wayne Ewald, two sisters and one brother preceded Donna in death. Donna was a member of the Women of the Moose #98 and the Grandmothers Club who enjoyed lunch and bingo. She loved to collect dolls, polka dance and travel. She enjoyed Hawaii and cruises. Contributions in memory of Donna Mae Ewald Huddleston may be made to Hospice. She is survived by her son, Richard Patrick Ewald of Mishawaka, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Leonard and Ira Heimel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615.
