Born in Jacksons, Mahanoy Township, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Mary O'Brien Heiler.
She attended Mahanoy Township schools and was previously employed by the Shenandoah Evening Herald.
Anne was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1997; a brother, Jerry Heiler; a sister, Helen Finneran.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Deffley and his wife, Janet, Barnesville, Phil Deffley and his wife, Gretchen, Mahanoy City, and Brian Deffley and his wife, Lorrie, Zion Grove; a daughter, Anne Locher and her husband, Scott, Mahanoy City; six grandchildren, Lynne, Bryan, Sean, Erin, Connor and Kyle; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Autumn, Alex and Anthony; two sisters, Mammie Christian and Jean Konidas and her husband, Michael; nieces and nephews.
Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral services were held at James P. Haughney Funeral Home, 101 E. Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, Mahanoy City. Interment was in St. Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy Township. James P. Haughney Funeral Home, Mahanoy City, had charge of arrangements.
