Avis "Pete" E. Austin, 82, of Sykesville, MD, passed away on Sunday, April 18.
She was born on November 6, 1927 to the late Samuel B. and Ferne (nee Emert) Heft in Atlanta, Illinois. She attended Francis Shimer College.
On December 3, 1948, she married Bert C. Austin in Chicago, Illinois.
Pete led a full and rich life and was active in the Ellicott Senior Center where she enjoyed the company of good friends and taking painting classes. In addition, she enjoyed a good card game, a beautiful garden, drives in the country (especially in sports cars), the company of "little twinks" (young children), traveling wherever the four winds blew and a good glass of wine.
Pete is survived by her daughter, Tauna Christine Austin-Bellinger and husband, Fred of La Mesa, CA; son, Clark Austin and wife, Kathi, of Ellicott City, MD, daughters Sarah Jane Delaney of Longmont, CO and Kathryn Anne Holfeltz and husband Thomas of Plymouth, WI. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren, Clark Austin V, Brooke Ann Austin, Morgan Jane Delaney, Richard Michael Delaney IV, her sister, Margaret Borgelt of Crowley, LA, and canine buddy, Scottie McGruff.
She was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Reid Austin; daughter, Lorna Elizabeth Austin; and sisters, Treva Jane and Nadine Leona.
Joyous celebrations of her life will be held on Sunday, April 25 at the Howard County Conservancy at Mt. Pleasant, 10520 Old Frederick Rd., Woodstock, MD and on Saturday, May 1 at St. Peters UCC, 424 Fremont St., Kiel, WI. The Rev. Judine Duerwaechter will be officiating both services.
