Mary Jo Heflin Black, 70, of Decatur died March 2, 2008, at her home due to complications from ovarian cancer. She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school, volunteering, quilting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" Silas Heflin and Annie Mae Stephenson Heflin.
Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Joe Black; one daughter, Cecilia J. Black of Bristow, Va., and her husband, Patrick Graft; one son, William J. Black of Huntsville, and his wife, Gena; one grandchild, Audrey Grace Black of Huntsville; two sisters, Billie Ann Heflin Wood of Decatur and Peggy Heflin Gattis of Huntsville; and several nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, March 4, 2008, in the First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Roger Jenkins and Dr. Bill Hurt officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Decatur City Cemetery.
