Funeral services for Susan Penelope Hefley Goff, 92, were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Parsons, Tuesday afternoon. Rev. G.G. Joyner and Rev. Edwin E. Duesner were the officiating ministers. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery with Wright-Timberlake Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Goff died Monday at 10 a.m. at the home of a son, G.H. Goff in Parsons.

Mrs. Goff was the widow of the late George W. Goff. She was born in Henderson County on March 3, 1858. In spite of her advanced years, she was active until a few days ago. She enjoyed going to church, doing needle work and visiting her friends and neighbors. Possessing a remarkable memory, she was able to recall the Battle of Shiloh, which was fought April 6 and 7, 1862, and could relate how she and her family could hear the sound of the cannon fire on those days.

Mrs. Goff was the mother of seven children, four of whom survive: George W. Goff, Lexington, Ben H. Goff, Noblesville, Indiana, William M. Goff, Lexington, and G. Hobart Goff, Parsons. She is survived by one brother, George F. Hefley, Lawn, Texas.

Mrs. Goff was the county's oldest mother last Mother's Day.
