Brown County Weekly 18 May 1956: Blankenship - Mrs. Hattie Blankenship, 64, wife of Claude Blankenship, of 1112 Oregon street, Hiawatha, died at the Brown County hospital Thursday evening, May 10, 1956, after an illness of several weeks. Besides her husband, Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Brightwell; sons Lu Vaughn and Dean of Hiawatha, Jess W., Curtis P. and Melvin L., all of Kansas City, Mo.; eleven grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. David Fahrmeyer or Robinson, Mrs. Louis Moore of Tulsa, Okla., and brother, Arley Hedrick of Robinson.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Blankenship - Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Blankenship were held from Meek's chapel at 2 o'clock Saturday aftnoon, May 12, by Rev. A.O. Englelmann. John Warren, accompanied by Mrs. Warren, sang "Abide With Me" and "Beyond the Sunset." Body bearers were newphews including Jack W. Hedrick, Frank D. Hedrick, Ruel G. Fahrmeyer, Jr., Creed M. Bland and Vernon Hedrick. Interment was at the Mount Hope Cemetery.
