He was born Oct. 31, 1918 in Meonona, Iowa to Hubert and Lydia Carpenter Heck. His parents; one sister, Esther Rapp and one grandson, David Harness, preceded him in death. He married Ruby L. Hammons on March 4, 1945 in Stockton, California. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry Heck and Richard (Kathy) Heck; one daughter, Cathy Bays; five grandchildren, Diane, Lisa, Jeff, Jennifer and Jacqueline Heck; two brothers, James (Audrey) Heck and Donald (Jean) Heck and five sisters, Gladys Williams, Marie Hammons, Marge (Rudy) Meiser, Barbara (Bill) Hindman and Rose (Gene) Liscomn.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II Army where he obtained the rank of sergeant.
