Alvin P. "Blackie" Hebert
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Alvin Paul Hebert, 91, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of White Castle and retired from Shell Oil Co. after 35 years of service. Visiting at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, White Castle, on Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jules Brunet, celebrant. Entombment in the church mausoleum. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beatrice Pansano Hebert; sisters, brothers and in-laws, Alice Babin, Linda Hernandez, Allen and Bernadine Hebert, Virginia and Eddie Giroir, Alfred and Gloria Hebert, Linda Pansano and J.B. Pansano; son-in-law, Louis Arlen Landry; grandchildren, Brian Landry and Dusty Light, Arlene "Missy" Landry and Mary Watson, Cherie and Michael Blomberg, Drew Landry and Michael Hebert; great-grandchildren, Taylar and Briana Landry, Steven Saul, Morgan and Eric Blomberg, Frankie and Samantha Hebert and Tyler Light; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna Hebert; daughter, Betty Landry; son, Gerald Hebert; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Special thanks to caregivers Bernice Porter, Charles Ann Green, Dusty Light, Lakeview Home Health, Comfort Care Hospice and Total Live-In Care. "He was a good man. So smart and strong. Always kept his word and always said what he meant. He was never selfish or boastful, and would give you the shirt off his back. Giving wasn't something this man lacked. He always had a smile and a kind gesture to let you know you're important to him. Family came first: he would protect them no matter the cost. He would be firm, but his heart was always soft and his wit was always quick. The little ones were his special joy: how he loved to watch them grow. Integrity followed him wherever he would go. He was a proud man and it showed." We are sad to lose you, Paw-Paw, but we know you are at peace and now rest in the arms of the Lord. Your presence has left lasting memories that will delight us for the rest of our lives. We are so thankful for you and all that you have done for us. We love and miss you, Your Family.
