Notes & research shared by Larry D. Fox a decendent of Isaac Hartsell b.1783 d.1863/64 a brother to Abraham.
All of the records in Washington county have his surname spelled as Hartsel/Hartsell.Abram and Mary "Polly" moved from Washington County to Blount Co., TN about 1818, the date of their first property deed found there. It was only after their move to Blount County that the surname spelling of Heartsill became established.
In 1825, Abram built a house on the Tennessee River in the Louisville community. This house is still standing and is owned by a Col. Linebaugh. The house is in the National Trust of Historic Places and is called the "Heartsill-Linebaugh House". In 1841 Abram became one of the trustees of Louisville Academy.
Othilla Thompson - Hartsell Researcher who passed away on July 7, 2003 shared much of her research. Othilla will be greatly missed in our Heartsill/Hartsell family.
