Mrs. Mary Nelson Haynes Brownley, age 67 of Mathews, departed this life unexpectedly on Monday, May 7, 2001. She was a native of Mathews County.
Mary was the dedicated wife of Capt. Stanley W. Brownley for 43 years. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mary was a member of Westville Baptist Church. She was involved in the community as a member of the Mathews Junior Woman's Club, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, licensed and practicing local real estate agent, and was an avid boater and fisherwoman. In recent years, she was the owner of K&M Travel and Tours, which enabled her to pursue her interest in traveling the world and sharing it with others. Above all, she was devoted to the happiness and well being of family members and friends through her kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.
She is survived by her mother, Ernestine C. Haynes of Mathews; a daughter, Teresa B Roberts and son-in-law, Michael J Roberts of Tabernacle, N.J.; a son, Warren N Brownley and daughter-in-law, Mary B Brownley of Virginia Beach; and three grandsons, Russell F Brownley, Alexander B Brownley, and Tyler B Roberts. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mildred H Dennis.
Visitation for family and friends was held from 7-8:30 pm Wednesday at Foster Faulkner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, May 10. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gwynn's Island Cemetery.
