Sarah was the 6th born of 13 children of John Haynes and Sophia Mattox.
She first married Franklin B. Searles on 2 May 1867 in Grant County, Indiana. Frank was born in 1843 in Indiana. Their union produced 3 children whom they named: Louisa, Edward Stanton and Roscoe Jesse.
Frank was killed in a saw mill accident in 1879.
Sarah's second marriage was to Ephram Brock on 8 July 1880 in Wabash County, Indiana. He had lost his wife the year before their marriage.
Ephram had 7 children from his previous marriage. No children born to Ephram and Sarah. Family history reports that Sarah smoked a pipe and there was some sort of hostility towards both her and Ephraim.
Some say she was an Indian but we do know that they lived on the Miami Indiana Reservation for many years.
Sarah died in Marion, Grant Co., Indiana in the home of her son Roscoe Searles. This was 20 years after her husband Ephram Brock died. She was buried with her first husband "Frank".

The info I am giving you is second hand and given to me 40 years after the event.
My grandfather had planned on burying his mother with his step-father but his sister objected. She wanted her buried beside her first husband and father to Ed, Louisa and Roscoe. The only father my grandfather knew was Ed, he was one year old when Grandma Betty and Ed married. According to my grandmother, after a spirited discussion and a major hissy fit by Louisa (grandma's words, not mine) my grandfather agreed to bury her in the IOOF Cemetery. She is on the cemetery's list of internments under the name of Betty Brock. No one called her Sarah.
