Farm Woman Dies From Injuries Sunday
Steps From Moving Machine To Escape Flames; Fracture Is Only Injury
A basal fracture of the skull when she leaped from a running automobile Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of Mrs. Bascom Bowman Sunday morning at ten o'clock.
The accident happened at 4:30 Saturday afternoon when Mrs. Bowman, her mother, Mrs. Hays, her brother in law, Henry Bowman, and her husband, Bud Bowman, were returning to their home from Weleetka. Just south of Doc and Tom Service Station on highway 75. Mrs. Bowman notice at her feet a paper which had caught fire. In order to avoid the flames, she opened a door and jumped from the car, In the fall she struck her head against the pavement. She was rushed here to the office of Dr. Allen C. Adams who reports that the only injuries the woman received from the fall besides the fracture, was a small scratch on one of her shoulders. She lived 17 hours longer than it was expected she would.
The Douglass Bell Funeral home was in charge of the burial. Services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 in the Bouglass Bell Funeral home. Rev. Day of Hobson conducted the services. Burial was made in the Hill Crest cemetery.
