Yesterday afternoon "Squire Rowan" joined four happy mortals from Drury township, the double
wedding taking place at the hour of 3:30 in his wedding palor. The contracting parties were Mr. John Henry Hayes and Miss Elizabeth Johnson, and Mr. Martin W. Cunningham and Miss Mattie Hayes
John and Mattie were brother and sister.

Mrs. Mattie May Hayes
Mrs. Mattie May Hayes 85, died at 8:00 a.m. Sunday at Muscatine General hospital. Mrs. Hayes resided on McKinley Street, until she entered the Layman Nursing Home.
She was born September 15, 1881 at Rock island, the daughter of Daniel and Susan Asa Hayes. She had been a Muscatine resident most of her life.
She married Martin Cunningham, June 9, 1899 (The correct date is Nov. 21, 1899). She was of Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Ollie L. Cunningham, Muscatine, Harold R, Cunningham, Wapello;
three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Jessie) Krueger, Mrs. Elva Burns, and Mrs. Richard (Bessie) Brown all of Muscatine, one sister Mrs. Bessie Daugherty, Muscatine; 28 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, one son, and several brothers and sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the George M. Wittich Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Barrett will officiate.
Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery.
