Daniel Hayes, 58,
Daniel Hayes, 58, of Sherman street, who resided in Muscatine practically his entire life, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday in Bellevue hospital following an extended illness.
He was born July 6, 1888 in Jewel County, Kas., the son of Daniel and Susan Acey Hayes, and was married to Martha Johnson, Oct. 3, 1907, in Muscatine. He was a button cutter by trade.
Surviving are his wife two sons, Arthur of Muscatine, and Clifford with the U. S. Navy in the Pacific; two daughters Mrs. Glen Van Arkle and Mrs. Clarence Frye, both of Muscatine; a brother John Hayes of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Daugherty and Mrs. Mattie Johnson both of Muscatine, and Mrs. Fannie Hatten of McAllister, Penn. and 10 grandchildren. His parents two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
The body is at the George M. Wittich, Funeral Home where rites will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Freeman Schmitt, with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
