Dorothy Yvonne Hayes, 82, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed from this life Saturday, July 2, 2011. Yvonne was born September 19, 1928 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to Morris E. "Blackie" Hamilton and Ethel Mae (Parker) Hamilton. After graduating from High School, she was married to Leon "Jelly" Hayes, on May 18, 1946, in Sand Springs. Yvonne learned to play the piano by ear and was very good at it. She loved to sing, watch and listen to the Gaithers on television, and go to any activity that the children and grandchildren were involved with. Yvonne also enjoyed listening to her grandson sing. She had a real passion for chocolate. When Yvonne married Jelly, he was a baseball player and she followed him all over the country to ball games. The family spent many vacations going to National Sport Events. The love for sports that Jelly and Yvonne had was passed down to the children and grandchildren who still enjoy them today. Yvonne was a member of the Sand Springs Church of God. Her wonderful attitude and great smile will be greatly missed by family and friends. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents Blackie and Ethel Hamilton; husband Jelly Hayes; sister Marvell (Calvert) Dean and brother-in-law John Calvert; sister-in-law Veva Hamilton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Juanita Milam; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Gladys Hayes; father-in-law and mother-in-law Floyd and Verena Hayes; and niece Judy Sorenson. She is survived by daughters Saundra Giddens of Kiefer, Oklahoma, and Vonda Snodgrass and husband Roger of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; grandchildren Rodney Snodgrass and wife Jennifer, Brent Giddens, and Jodi Snodgrass-Rader and husband Brian; great-grandchildren Allison, Paige and Jacob Snodgrass, Shelby and Tate Rader, and Jaxen, Cole, Lilli, and Sutton Giddens; brother Tom Hamilton of Cleveland Oklahoma; brothers-in-law Lee Hayes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Bob Dean of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral service for Yvonne will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation for Yvonne will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.
