Services were held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Central Church of Christ in Haskell for Donald Ray Hayes III, 24, of Haskell. Pallbearers were Garrett Williams, Jason Reed, Kory Ridley, Jonathan Brown, Brent Arnold, Joshua Goodpaster and Caleb Goodpaster. Honorary pallbearers were members of the FFA Class of 2006 and the 138th Fighter Wing AMXS Squadron. Interment was in the Bixby Cemetery under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home in Haskell. Hayes died Saturday, March 10 as a result of an automobile accident. Hayes was born to Don and Terrye Hayes and was raised in Haskell where he graduated from Haskell High School in 2006. In high school he was parliamentarian of his FFA class. He joined the United States Air Force in 2008 and was a crew chief for an F-15 fighter jet. In April of 2010 he was named "Warrior of the Week". Hayes' service awards include the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal with one Service Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Meal and the Air Force Training Ribbon. A member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard in Tulsa, Hayes participated in Iraqi Operation New Dawn from September through November of 2011, helping bring America's proud military personnel home. Hayes was a student at OSU Institute of Technology where he studied natural gas compression. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Haskell where he occasionally led singing. He is survived by his parents, Don and Terrye Hayes of Haskell; two sisters, Amie Williams and her husband, Garrett of Bixby and Audrie Reed and her husband, Jason of Bixby; one niece, Grace Williams; two nephews, Wyatt Williams and Karsen Reed; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Ruby Goodpaster of Muskogee; his paternal grandfather, Ed Cline of Haskell; one uncle and aunt, Gary and Kathy Goodpaster of Austin, Tex.; two cousins, Joshua and Caleb Goodpaster and other extended family members. Hayes was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Flora Cline in April of 2011 and his paternal grandfather, Donald Hayes Sr. in April of 1994.

Our loving son and brother, Donald Ray Hayes, III, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident. He was 24 years-old. Donald was raised in Haskell, OK, where he attended school. In high school he served as Parliamentarian of his FFA class. He graduated in 2006. In 2008, Donald joined the United States Air Force, following in his grandfathers' footsteps of serving in the military for the country he loved. He graduated from Basic Training on January 29, 2009 as a crew chief for the F15 fighter jet. After Basic he was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas and then at Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas, NV. In April 2010, he was awarded "Warrior of the Week." He also received the Air Force outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal with 1 service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Air Force Training Ribbon. Donald was currently serving in the Oklahoma Air National Guard in Tulsa, OK. While serving in the Guard, he participated in Iraqi Operation New Dawn from September thru November 2011, helping bring all of our proud military home. Also, Donald was continuing his education at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee enrolled in Natural Gas Compression. This was a field in which he was excelling. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Haskell, Oklahoma, where he occasionally led singing. Donald is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Flora Cline in April 2011 and his paternal grandfather, Donald Hayes Sr. in April 1994. Donald is survived by his parents Don and Terrye Hayes, of Haskell Oklahoma, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Amie and Garrett Williams of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Audrie and Jason Reed of Bixby Oklahoma. He had one niece, Grace Williams and two nephews, Wyatt Williams and Karsen Reed. Maternal grandparents are Bob and Ruby Goodpaster of Muskogee, Oklahoma and paternal grandfather, Ed Cline of Haskell, Oklahoma. He also had one uncle and aunt, Gary and Kathy Goodpaster and two cousins, Joshua and Caleb Goodpaster from Austin, Texas, along with many other extended family members. In addition, he had a host of friends, many that he considered family. Donald loved "tinkering" on things and figuring out how they worked. He enjoyed music of all kinds, watching and quoting movies, visiting with friends and family and working on the farm. He loved to just laugh and joke with friends and family. Donald was a very caring young man, always wondering who he could help next. He always wore a smile and never forgot those he grew up with. He always had a hug to share and a heart as big as the world. Donald never met a stranger, usually becoming friends with whomever he met. Donald was the light of his family's world and is going to be missed by all who knew and loved him so. The services will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2pm at the Central Church of Christ in Haskell. He will be laid to rest at Bixby Cemetery. Pallbearers are Garrett Williams, Jason Reed, Kory Ridley, Jonathan Brown, Brent Arnold, JoshuaGoodpaster and Caleb Goodpaster. Honorary pallbearers are the FFA Class of 2006 and the 138th Fighter Wing AMXS Squadron.
