HAYES DAVID ALSTON. The untimely death of David Alston Hayes, born October 14, 1946, occurred last Thursday evening, December 27, 2002 near his place of work on Miller Drive and 92nd avenue in Miami. David was crossing the street at approximately 7 p.m. when he was tragically struck by a car. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Robyn Ayn Dorn, Karyn Joy Kijak and Kristyn Amy Hubbard; his 2 year old son, Colin Robert Hayes; and 4 grandchildren, Emily Kathryn Dorn, Tyler Wesley Dorn, baby Dorn and Landon Robert Kijak. David was a native of Vermont where he grew up with his loving parents, Alston Beecher Hayes and Dorothy Edna Ramsdell Hayes; his two younger brothers, Paul and Glenn; his aunt Garnet Hayes Ridgwell; and cousins Arlene and Helen.

He was held in great esteem by all who knew him and kind words rarely failed him. David lived a Christian life and attended a Baptist church. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 5th at 4 p.m. at Cornerstone Bible Church, where David worshiped, by Rev. Pastors Brian Wheeler and Edwin Gonzalez. His earthly remains were flown to Hadley, Massachusetts earlier this week where he will be laid to rest in the family cemetery. Devoted father, loving grandfather, son and brother and beloved friend. HADLEY - David A. Hayes of N. Hadley, MA was called home to be with his Saviour on December 27, 2002. To cherish his memory he leaves his loving wife Carolyn (Hobbs) Hayes; and his cherished children, Robyn Dorn and husband David, Karyn Kijak and husband Kevven, Kristyn Hubbard and husband Joshua; and his beloved son, Colin Hayes. He leaves his adored grandchildren, Emily and Tyler Dorn and Landon Kijak. He leaves brothers, Glenn Hayes and wife Patty, Paul Hayes and wife Susan; and two nieces, Patty and Lisa. He also leaves his aunt, Garnet Ridgewell; and cousins Helen and Arlene.

David was born on October 14, 1946 in Lancaster, NH. He spent his childhood years in Guildhall, VT. During his teen years he moved to Westfield, MA. He graduated from Westfield High School in in 1964. He received his Bachelor of Theology Degree from Baptist Bible College, Spfld., Missouri. David was Minister of Education at Bible Baptist Academy, Northampton, MA. He also taught at First Baptist Christian Academy in E. Longmeadow, MA and Faith Baptist Christian Academy in Palmer, MA. David enjoyed reading, golf, bike riding, and history. He had a great love for his country.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Spring in North Hadley Cemetery. A Calling Hour will precede the Service Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 603 New Ludlow Rd., Chicopee, MA 01020 or to Granite State Baptist Church, 1 Sand Hill Rd., Salem, NH 03079.
