Margaret L. Gomez, 69, passed away Oct. 10, 2006, after a lengthy illness of four years. Survived by her children, Judy (Paul) Elder, Aurora, Colo., and Glenn (Angela) Gomez, Pueblo; siblings, James M. Hawks, San Diego, Calif., Madelyn Gallegos, Denver, and Dr. Sally Fabec, Trinidad, Colo.; grandchildren, Ryan Gomez, Andrea Gomez, Matthew Elder, Andrew Elder, Mary Beth Elder, Brandy Gomez, Gary Gomez Jr. and Brian Gomez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Preceded in death by her son, Gary Gomez; parents, Charles and Thelma Hawks; and brother, William Stephens. Margaret was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Jansen, Colo. She was an elementary school teacher with Pueblo School District No. 60 for 34 years. After retirement, she helped her sister, Dr. Sally Fabec, in her medical practice. Margaret enjoyed working with children, cooking, sewing and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Viewing, 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Rosary, 7 p.m. Friday, and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006; both services at St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Logan, with the Rev. Father Uju Patrick Okeahialam as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Those who desire, may make memorials to Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation through Montgomery & Steward.
