Mildred was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Gould, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle Mae McClung Hawkins. She was raised on the Hawkins family farm in Garden Township, North East of Harper,KS. In the atlas of land sections for that area, it's listed as "Hard Work Farm".
Prior to her marriage she was an assistant and secretary for Lorraine Squire, noted wild life photographer.
On 16 April, 1938 Mildred married Earl Ray Allton. They lived on the Allton family farm in Pilot Knob Township from that time till 1972 when Ray retired from farming. After which they moved to Harper, Ks until she entered the nursing home in Anthony, Kansas where she lived for 3 years prior to her death. Ray preceded her in death.
Mildred's hobbies included gardening, fishing and raising dogs. She was a 4H leader for the club's dog projects. She cooked for harvest crews and enjoyed the country life.
Survivors include, one son, four daughters, a sister, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Nov. 4, 2006.
