Carolyn Loretta Richards Hawkins, 73, of Kennesaw, the most loving, kind, and considerate human being was given into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on March 31, 2012.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta, GA.

She was the loving and dedicated wife of Sammy J. Hawkins for over 55 years. Carolyn and Sammy had more than just a marriage of 55 years, they became one; devoted, loyal and respectful always of each other. They lived a life of love, family and happiness. She always thought of others first. Carolyn attended Sprayberry High School from 1953 to 1957.

She was preceded into the gates of heaven by her parents, Edward Joseph Richards and Kathleen Delia LeBlanc Richards.

Carolyn was a source of strength for her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was considered a "best friend" by so many. There will be a void in so many lives without her friendship. Carolyn devoted her life to her family to whom she was a source of strength, faith, joy and encouragement. Her greatest happiness came in giving to her family and their lives were greatly enriched by her love and generosity. Carolyn was an amazing spirit, a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and a great friend to all who were blessed with the opportunity to know her. Her smile warmed the hearts of all those who knew her and her presence touched the lives of many. She leaves behind family and friends who will forever cherish her loving memories. She gave unconditionally, unselfishly and tirelessly to the end of her life. If someone was in need, she was there, extending a helping hand. She was loved by all and she will be forever missed. How many people will you touch in dying? All those people who loved you, and all those who would have, had they known you; those who you knew well and those who never knew you; those who cared for you in all those trying months; those who will hear of your earthly struggle; those who will read of your death; those who prayed for you in churches and in the community as well; those who hear your story and try to understand how you could make such a plan, they will shed tears in your dying. Lessons will be learned from your living; such sacrifice in your giving. You did not give up but gave over to a power greater than yourself. You touch your family and everybody who knew you. You are remembered often. We already miss you very much.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory "the love of her life," her husband, Sammy; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Sammy D. and Sheri Hawkins; her beloved daughter, Teresa Nielsen; her beloved grandchildren, Erin Nielsen Newton and her husband Jerry, Phillip Hawkins and Kim Stanley, and Michael Hawkins; her great granddaughter, Mina Adele; her sister, Mary Allain, Terryville, CT.; her sister, Blanche Sharpe, Mechanicsburg, PA.; her sister, Jo Ann Sattley, PA.; her aunt, Mary Virginia Smith, St. Petersburg, FL.; her mother-in-law, Louise Hawkins, Canton, GA; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Brenda Hawkins, Acworth, GA; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Gloria Hawkins, Jasper, GA; her sister-in-law, Bobbie Lou Hawkins, Jasper, GA; several nieces and nephews; very "Special Friends" Rusty Stephens, Beverly Hollifield, Robert and Betty Ellison, and Jack and Patsy Robertson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
