Peggie was born on March 31, 1936 in Salt Lake in spite of a blinding snowstorm and the cab running out of gas on the way to the hospital. Her parents were Aberham McGillis and Lillian Clark Sanford McGillis. Peggie was raised in Salt Lake and married Conrad Ottley, with whom she had four children. His military duties took them to Olympia, Washington until his untimely death in an automobile accident. She and her children returned to Utah where she met and married Larry L. Hawkins, with whom she had another child. Peggie and Larry were happily married for forty-eight years. Peggie was a homemaker who always kept an immaculate house and yard. She was a loving mother to her five children and was an even more loving grandmother. She really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Peggie also loved to travel. She visited many places but, as anyone who knew her will tell you, her favorite place was Hawaii which she traveled to regularly. Peggie made friends with almost anyone with whom she came into contact. She nurtured and maintained many friendships including a number of lifelong friends that she particularly cherished. She is survived by her husband, and her children Carrie Lynn Fairbourn, Scott Arthur Ottley, Christophe (Michelle) Ottley, Stacee Ann Mitchell and Jonathan Larry Hawkins. She has nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren (a fifth is due soon). A private service will be held.
