After a full life of ninety-six years, Karl John Hawkins died Tuesday, April 3, 1990 in Provo, Utah.
Born March 29, 1894 in Benjamin, Utah, Karl served as a U.S. Marine in World War I and filled an L.D.S. mission to the Northwestern states.
He married Josephine Johnson on May 3, 1922 and, after rearing nine children, served with her an L.D.S. mission to England. Dr. Hawkins healed many lives through his chiropractic profession. Friends and family remember Karl's love for singing and his pride in his garden, which he tended through his ninth decade.
Preceded in death by his wife Josephine and daughter Dorothy Bee Schofield, Karl is survived by eight children, Myrtle J. Smith, George W. Hawkins, Karl J. Hawkins, Jr., Betty Jo Smith, Charlotte Ann England, Harold J. Hawkins, Arline H. Ockey, and Helen L. Lewis, forty-four grandchildren, and fifty great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Colonial Hills Relief Society Room, 1700 East 1550 South. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 9, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Hills Ward Chapel.
Interment by Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, in Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 East 1300 South.
