PLAINVIEW, Feb. 24 (Special) - James G. Hawkins, 91 years old, native Texas, died late today on the eve of his sixtieth wedding anniversary.
Funeral services will be conducted here at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Methodist Church. Rev. W.E. Peterson, the pastor, will officiate.
Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins were married Feb. 25, 1891 at Antelope, Tex. He was born Oct. 14, 1859, in Denton County and lived there until 1878 when he moved to Young County.
Hawkins farmed near Loving, Young County, for 68 years until 1946, when he retired and he and Mrs. Hawkins moved to Hale County to make their home near a daughter, Mrs. C.H. Thomas.
He became ill three weeks ago.
Hawkins had been a member of the Methodist Church since childhood.
He and Mrs. Hawkins were parents of seven sons and daughters, all of whom survive. The children are Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Lena Wilcox, Gallup, NM; Mrs. W.S. McGee, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Claude Miller, Odessa, Mrs. Clara Winkler, Gruver, H.G. Hawkins, Cheyenne, Okla. and F.C. Hawkins, Marmi, Ill. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. A.C. Casey, Fort Worth; two brothers, J.W. Hawkins, Dimmitt, and L.D. Hawkins, Collins, Colo.
