The former Barbara Hauswirth was born on July 31, 1935 in Atlantic Mine, a daughter of Marion (Hahka) Hauswirth and the late Anton "Tony" Hauswirth.
She later lived in Hancock, Houghton and for the past two and a half years, has made her home in the Liminga District. She was a graduate of Hancock High School and a graduate of the last school of nursing at the former Portage View Hospital.
She was employed as an RN OBGYN at the former Portage View Hospital until her retirement.
On November 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to David Edwards.
Preceding Barbara Edwards in death were her father, Anton "Tony" Hauswirth and one infant grandson, C. Anthony Baldus.
Surviving were her husband, David Edwards; two sons, Thomas Edwards of Marquette, Joseph (Julie) Edwards of Petoskey; three daughters, Betsy (George) Hocking of Liminga, Rachel (Dion) Baldus of Aurora, Colo., Suzy (Tom) Young of Houghton; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her mother, Mrs. Marion Hauswirth of Hancock; a sister, JoAnn Hauswirth of Hancock; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
