The family came to the U.S. around 1881, going first to Iowa, then settling in Minnesota. Aanen Hausken's father was "Ole Hanson" in Norway, he was the 4th of 13 children. Ole's wife was Anna Helland. In 1880, Ole Hanson died, and Aanen came to the U.S in 1881. There were so many "Hansons" that they were always getting their mail mixed up. So they went to a judge and changed their name to "Hausken." Some of the other brothers spelled it "Hauskins." So both spellings are ancestors.

Aanen and Hanna were married on July 1, 1889. Adolph was born on March 4, 1892, and Olof was born on September 24, 1894. Ole, the third son, was born in 1895 or 1896, but died at 5 months of pneumonia.
