Life's Work/Service/Interests: WWII was breaking out and the day after her high school graduation, ArLene headed for the Los Angeles area where the action was. Among other things, she worked as a switchboard operator for a large company and she was one of the 8 girls that formed the Musettes. The Musettes sang to the troops at the USO in Hollywood and also sang at LDS Church events in the area. In 1943, ArLene married Llewellyn John Jones who was soon called away from building B-17s to become a Merchant Marine officer. After the war, they moved to the Bay Area where Jeffery Roy Jones, the last of their 3 children was born. The marriage did not work out. Arlene raised the family by herself for 17 years while working for Western Union in Palo Alto. Her association with a widower, Wendell B. Christenson, her Stake President, led to their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple in 1973. This was a joyous time in both their lives with many adventures and much service. They honeymooned for 3 weeks in Europe and served missions to Nauvoo, California, and Israel. After Wendell's death in 1983, ArLene served a mission to England and Scotland. She also served for a quarter century in the Provo Temple when she was not on missions. Many of her large, widespread posterity sought her on the phone or visited her for counsel and consolation. ArLene was happiest when she was surrounded by her many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews for whom she had great love. Cherished ArLene Hatch Jones Christenson completed her well and faithfully lived journey on Earth at home in Provo on 17 Aug 2013. She was 91.
Religion/Associations: A faithful Latter-day Saint her entire life and at one time was her stake's Primary President. Served four LDS missions.
