MARTHA HATCH FIRST TO BE BURIED IN WILLOW CREEK

Died at Willow Creek, Utah, January 5, 1922, Martha Hatch, beloved wife of Leroy Hatch.

The deceased was the daughter of John Moroni and Emma Edmunds and was born September 5, 1883.

She was united in marriage to Leroy Hatch in 1906. Nine children have been born to them, seven of whom are living: Martha, Alice, Leroy, Permilia, Jerry, Phoebe and Mildred. The last named was but four weeks old when the mother died.

Mrs. Hatch's death was caused by a severe cold and resaulting complications.

The funeral services were conducted by Jerry Hatch, at whose home Mrs. Hatch was cared for during her illness Saturday, January 7.

Many friends from both Willow and Hill Creek were present and rendered all the aid possible to the afflicted family.

Mrs. Hatch was a kind neighbor, and a devoted wife and mother. The sympathy of all are exteded to her loved ones, who sorrow so deeply at her loss.

The body was interred upon a small plateau overlooking the valley, and so far as known, was the first white person to be buried in the settlement, where they have resided for the past eight years.

When the wintry sun sank
In a clear, cloudless sky,
And the evening breezes
Passed noiselessly by,
We said last farewells
To our neighbor and friend,
And conveyed the still form
To it's last journey's end.

On the hillside above,
Where the view is most fair,
Mother Earth is now giving
Her warm sheltering care.
'Til God from His city
Shall send forth His call,
"Enough! Come up highter!
There is room here for all."
