Our sweet sister, aunt and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father after a lifetime of joy and service. She had a love for life and a zest for learning and travel. Wherever she lived, her home was a thing of beauty and designed to perfection.
She centered her home around the gospel. It was a place of peace and refuge and a gathering place for fun. Mary loved to host family, ward members, luncheons, parties, senior citizens and other single sisters and everyone was welcome. She loved English Gardens and had beautiful outdoor floral gardens at all the homes she lived in. She visited major botanical gardens throughout the world drawing inspiration from them. Mary loved to travel with her mother, family and dear friend Becky.
She dearly loved serving her mission to West Central States in Billings, Mont. Throughout her life she served in Relief Society as President, Enrichment Counselor, Humanitarian Leader, and Ward Choir Director. In Primary as President, Music Leader and Cub Scouts. Her most recent church callings were: CTR Teacher and Humanitarian Specialist.
She was born to Boyd Teeples Hatch and Enid Ruth Williams in Vernal, Utah and passed away due to complications of surgery in Royal Oak, Mich. She was a graduate of Uintah High School class of '61 and LDS Seminary.
Following her graduation she worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell. She was a graduate of BYU '75, with a degree in Interior Design and Elementary Education. Following graduation she worked at Dinwitty's Furniture in Salt Lake City as the Interior Design Specialist and later an Instructor of Interior Design at a Junior College in Phoenix, Arizona. She also received her Elementary Education teaching certificate from Michigan's Oakland University and taught first grade in Edmunds, Okla.
Her talent and appreciation for fine arts and design directed her to further her education in these fields and she would have loved to have been an architect after the experience of designing her home and the Wilson Memorial Hospital Emergency Trauma Center in North Carolina.
Our Mary's joyous and cheerful spirit will be dearly missed by all those she loved and influenced, and by those who loved her in return.
Preceeded in death by parents, Boyd Teeples and Enid Ruth Williams Hatch; sister, Carol Glee (Hugh) Girsberger; and nephew, Phillip Lyle Girsberger.
