Lois Marie Horrocks - Our beautiful and beloved wife, mother, "nana", sister, and friend, passed peacefully from the arms of her eternal sweetheart to the arms of her Heavenly Father, on August 4, 1999 at home, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Lois was born June 25, 1927 in Duchesne, Utah, to James and Carrie Hatch. Lois was married and sealed for eternity on December 18, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple, to Gilbert Horrocks.
Lois is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years; her children, Connie (Lee) Wimmer, Pleasant Grove; Linda (Jeff) Smith, Sandy; Jim (Cindy) Horrocks, Highland; and Shelley (Michael) Mann, San Francisco, CA; her grandchildren, Michael (Kristy) Smith; Jennifer (Todd) MacGillvray; LeAnn (Justin) Lindsey; Jason (Judi) Wimmer; Shannon Wimmer; Kelly (Seth) Latimer; Matthew Horrocks; and great-grandchildren, Rachael, Sariah (deceased), taylor and Rebekah Lindsey; Andrew and Bryan Smith; Emmalee Wimmer; and Mary MacGillvray. Also survived by her brother, Harvey (Fran) Hatch, Salt Lake. Together, Lois and Gil established Horrocks Engineers in 1969. She was intimately involved in the business for many years. She was the silent partner that "made everything work."
Lois was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary. She was currently serving a mission in Utah County with her husband for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The family wishes to express love and gratitude to Dr. John and Gloria Smith, for their devoted care and compassion during her illness.
Viewings will be held Friday, August 6, 1999, at the Berg Mortuary, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, August 7, 1999 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Edgemont North Stake Center, 4300 North Canyon Road, Provo. Funeral services will also be held Saturday at the Edgemont North Stake Center at 10 a.m. Interment at East Lawn Cemetery, Provo. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune (UT) on August 5, 1999.
