Martha A. "Mattie" Hatcher, 95, Hillsboro, died Nov. 8, 2008, at Silver Bell Adult Foster Care in Hillsboro, surrounded by her family.
A local funeral service has been held. A service in Whittier, Calif., at Hillside Chapel, Rose Hills Memorial Park, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.
Mrs. Hatcher was born March 15, 1913, in Carthage, Mo., a daughter of John H. and Jane Hunt Pugh. She was raised and educated in Carthage.
She married Auburn Pridemor Hatcher in the 1930s.
Over the years she worked as a professional seamstress. She was a busy wife, mother and grandmother. She loved working outside in the garden, loved flowers and had an extremely green thumb. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and was also a good cook.
She moved to the Hillsboro area in the 1990s to be near her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Auburn, in 1972, and by a son.
Survivors include her daughters and a son-in-law, Betty and Paul Jordan, and Pansy Van Dick; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
