Brent Hatch, age 59, died December 5, 2000.

Born January 3, 1941 in Salt Lake City, son of Boyd O. and Bessie Dickson Hatch. He grew up in the 20th Ward on the Avenues. He was an Eagle Scout and attended West High and Westminster College. He worked at EIMCO, Unisource, and Ice House Auctions.

Brent, an amazing storyteller--some of which was true--had a big heart and cared about people. He dazzled folks with his brilliance or baffled them with bull shit. He liked Gooseberry Pie, cold beer, reading World War II history, and the obituaries. He enjoyed the mating rituals of the Blue Footed Boobie and Jack the dog. He disliked intolerance, cold weather, Republicans, bankers named Barry, The Gorgon Ruszeki, Rush, and Orrin.

Preceded in death by his father and the love of his life, Ginger. Survived by mother, sister, Beverly Rasmussen; brother, Bruce (Delia) Hatch; nieces and nephews, Stephen, Debi, Scott, Tom, Mark, Jeff, Sarah, Jason, and Ashley; and many friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, North Entrance (920 East 11th Avenue). A gathering of friends also will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Elks Club, 4894 South State Street (100 East), Murray.
