Stepson of James Jones Cremated
Bishop E S Horsley and Elder O J Harman last Saturday conducted the funeral over the remains of Evan, the 3 year old stepson of James Jones, burned to death the day previous in a fire that destroyed the building used as a dwelling near the Price waterworks resevouir. The funeral services were from Town Hall in the afternoon.
Mrs. Jones was absent at the time the fire occuried, having gone to a neighbor's on an errond, leaving a younger sister to build a fire. It was only a few minutes later that the sister ran from the house giving the alarm. Before anyone could get to the scene it was too late to render any assistance.
Inquiries were made for the child. The sister was insistent in her story that the little one had escaped from the house. The dwelling and practically all the contents had been destroyed, and it was not until some time later that the body of the child was discovered, partially wrapped in the bedding, as though he had tried to escape the heat in this way.
His limbs were partially burned away and the body somewhat charred by the flames.
