Verlie Mae was born July 9, 1926, in Joyce, La., the daughter of George Ukele and Monnie Lee Harper Ukele. She was a retired registered nurse with Harris Methodist Hospital and a member of Lighthouse Church in Burelson. She will always be remembered for her great faith in God and her love and support for her family. We shall always miss her great family holiday gatherings where she would prepare the best feast ever, especially her cornbread dressing and her pecan pies. Verlie Mae was also a collector of angel figurines, housing 132 pieces. Now she is standing with all the heavenly angels' choir singing praise to the Lord. Survivors: Daughter, Verna Smith and husband, Lee; daughter, Florene "Flo" Bass Cook; grandchildren, Kathy Smith Hoyt, Jeff Smith, Norma Bass Tatum and Jimmy Bass; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
