Patricia Hassett Breen, 91, passed away July 22, 2012, surrounded by her devoted family. Patricia, loving wife, mother, aunt, friend, faithful Catholic and generous community advocate, was born June 20, 1921, in Beverly Hills, Calif. Patricia was educated at Beverly Hills High School and the University of California, Los Angeles. She met and married the love of her life, Joseph Breen Jr. in 1947. Patricia and Joseph raised five children while he was a writer and director in the motion picture business. Patricia and Joseph moved their family to Las Vegas in 1963, where they owned Gifts Galore and Frontier Jewels until they retired. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; eldest son, Joseph III; sister, Marilyn Ewing; and brother, William Hassett. She is survived by her children, Mary Breen Vaughn (Harold), Patrick Breen (Patricia), Erin Breen (David) and Matthew Breen (Fredris); sister, Nancy Hassett; sister-in-law, Alison Hassett; brother-in-law Frank Ewing; grandchildren, Jacob Leslie, Jeannie Leslie, Joseph Breen IV, Jennifer Vaughn, Kaitlyn Breen, Hayley Breen and James Breen; as well as her great-grandchildren, Henry, Iris and Rudy Jackson and Maxwell Breen. Her life was also blessed by the love of her nephews, Connor Petrie (Marilyn), William Petrie (Kathie), Paul Dorr; and cherished family and many beloved friends. In addition to the magnificent job she did raising her family, Patricia tirelessly devoted her time and energy for a lifetime of community service. She was a board member of The Children's Service Guild, Home of the Good Shepherd. She was a founding member of St. Viator's Parrish and active member of Bishop Gorman High School. There was never a person in need that she did not reach out to. Prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday July 30, at the Guardian Angel Cathedral, 302 Cathedral Way. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either The Children's Service Guild (702-455-5366) or The Grief Center at The Family Institute of Nevada (702-629-7024).
