Edie married Ernest (Ernie) Haskell after a 10 year courtship. They built their home on Puritan Road in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. She would go fishing with Ernie in their motor boat, and she always caught more fish than he did. Ernie was a shell fisherman but occasionally would bring home fish and eels. Edie was an excellent cook and was good at baking as well.
Edie was a former member of the Parkway Community Church in Milton, Massachusetts. She was also a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church on the Canal, the Grange, and the Bourne Mother's Club while living in Buzzards Bay.
At age 47, Edie died of Cancer of her breast, which later metastasized and went into her bones. Her funeral service was officiated by Dr. William E. LIttlewood of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Buzzards Bay.
