Dorothy Harvey Harman, 87 of Louisville, Ohio, formerly of Hinton, completed her earthly journey on July 24, 2012.

Born in Summers County on February 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Maymie Huffman Harvey of Buck, West Virginia.

Dorothy was a graduate of Hinton Hospital School of Nursing and was licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Nursing. She received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia. She was a former Summers County Public Health Nurse, and was employed with the inception of both Appalachian Regional Hospital and the Southern West Virginia Clinic. She retired from the National Mine, Health and Safety Academy in Beckley where she worked as an occupational health nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Harman, by her sisters, Elizabeth Lowry and Madeline Reed and by her brothers, John and Jack Harvey.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Julia (Judy) Massie and husband John of Canton, OH, granddaughter, Christina Oh and husband Steve and Hilton Head, SC, grandson, Kevin Massie and wife Shalene and great granddaughter, Abigail of Floyd, VA, sister, Glenna Saunders of Beckley, sisters-in-law, Myrtle Harvey of Buck and Ruby Harman of Martinsburg, WV and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday July 27th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton. Funeral services will be conducted at Pivont Funeral Chapel on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Price officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers from the Mining Academy in Beckley.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy's family asks that contributions be made for the preservation of Huffman Cemetery, C/O Eugene Thompson, HC 77 Box 58, Hinton, WV 25951, a cause that Dorothy held dear throughout her life.
